Health Care Foundation Exceeds Fundraising Goal at Ninth Annual Brunch with the Bags™

St. John’s - The Health Care Foundation is pleased to announce that it recently raised $133,000 for women’s health at its annual signature event, Brunch with the Bags™ on May 3, 2015.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff of the Health Care Foundation, we would like to sincerely thank everyone who helped make the ninth annual Brunch with the Bags™ a huge success again this year,” said Debbie Patten, Chair, Health Care Foundation’s Board of Directors. “We are proud to announce that we exceeded our fundraising goal for this year’s event and will be using the proceeds to purchase state-of-the-art gynecological equipment.”

Proceeds from Brunch with Bags will be used to purchase new gynecology instrumentation, including:

  • A Gyne Colposcope, which will improve the quality of laser treatments and decrease the potential risk of injury to women who require this procedure.
  • An alternate suturing apparatus, called a Capiosuturing Device, which allows for placement of sutures in difficult to access areas of a patient’s body.
  • Longer gynecological needle drivers, which will assist surgeons in gynecological procedures.

The event was made possible by the support of a number of sponsors, especially the presenting sponsors, Shoppers Drug Mart and Johnson Insurance. A complete list of sponsors is available in the below backgrounder.

“Brunch with the Bags™, and many other Health Care Foundation initiatives, would not be possible without the support of our sponsors and donors,” said Paul Snow, President and CEO, Health Care Foundation. “This support translates into better health care and equipment for our mothers, sisters, daughters and all of those other special women in our lives – and that is invaluable. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting this worthwhile cause.”
