Health Care Foundation Exceeds Fundraising Goal at 28th Annual Eleganza

St. John’s - The Health Care Foundation is pleased to announce that it raised $532,835 for adult health care at its 28th annual Eleganza Rock Around the Clock event on October 24, 2015. To date, the event has raised in excess of $3.5 million for vital equipment and patient programs.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff of the Health Care Foundation, we would like to thank our sponsors, guests, volunteers, staff and Eleganza Planning Committee for making this year’s event one of the best to date,” said Debbie Patten, Chair, Health Care Foundation’s Board of Directors. “Not only did the event provide guests with an evening of fun and unforgettable memories, but we also exceeded our fundraising goal as we all came together to make a difference in the lives of adult patients.”

This year, Eleganza adopted a 50s theme which brought plenty of excitement and fun for the over 400 guests in the room. The event was hosted by the highly entertaining Sheila Williams and featured a number of themed games, a silent auction and a delicious three course meal.

Proceeds from Eleganza 2015 will support the purchase of a digital mobile x-ray machine for the Critical Care Program at the Health Sciences Centre.

“We thank the Health Care Foundation and Eleganza Planning Committee for choosing to fund this important piece of equipment at this year’s Eleganza,” said Dr. Rick Bhatia, Clinical Chief, Diagnostic Imaging at Eastern Health. “The digital mobile x-ray machine will be used on patients who are critically ill and require access to diagnostic testing at their bedside. The acquisition of this equipment will greatly benefit both patients and staff as it will improve the time to make clinical decisions and reduce radiation exposure to both patients and health care providers.”

The event was made possible by the support of a number of sponsors, especially the presenting sponsors, Johnson Insurance and Penney Automotive Group, and signature sponsors, Browning Harvey Limited and VOCM Cares Foundation. A complete list of sponsors is available in the below backgrounder.
