Integrated Operating Suites

Through a fund created within the Hebron Project, the Building Trades Workers of the Resource Development Trades Council, or Trades NL, have made a multimillion dollar commitment to surgical care at the Health Sciences Centre and St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital. The result of this commitment is the replacement of medical equipment and technology in 17 traditional operating suites in both St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital and the Health Sciences Centre, transforming them into Integrated Operating Suites.

The Integrated Operating Suites will improve quality and safety, as well as facilitate better outcomes for patients, thanks to features such as high definition visualization, advanced medical equipment and videoconferencing.

The Integrated Operating Suites have been named in recognition of the tremendous support from the RDTC and the 16 Building Trades unions who contributed to the cause, including:

  • Boilermakers, Local 203
  • Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, Local 1;
  • Carpenters, Local 579
