Foundation Grants More Than $48,000 to Enhance Patient Comfort and Care

St. John’s, NL -  The Health Care Foundation (HCF) hosted a ceremony today and awarded $48,877 worth of grants to Eastern Health staff members at twenty six hospital units in its 5 adult facilities as part of its Comfort in Care™ program. The Comfort in Care™ program provides funding for items which enhance patient care and well-being.

Paul Snow, CEO and President of the Foundation said Eastern Health employees from any of the five adult hospitals in the St. John’s region, can access Comfort in Care™ funding through a grant application process.
“This program is important to the Foundation,” Snow said. “It’s outside of our other funding areas of capital equipment, education and research, it enables the purchase of smaller items; blanket warmers, TVs, wheelchairs, etc. Items that make a big difference to patients and their families during their hospital stay.”

A total of 30 Comfort in Care™ grants were awarded today. Today’s ceremony marks the tenth round of Comfort in Care™ grants. This round was funded through HCF’s major donor, Johnson and the Gary Rowe Memorial Comfort In Care™ fund. Donations are also received from individual donors who give to the Health Care Foundation’s Comfort In Care™ program.
