Health Care Foundation Staff Scholarships
The Health Care Foundation provides annual funding of $10,000 to support the professional development of staff of the St. John's adult hospitals. A total of five scholarships, valued at $2,000 are awarded each year. These scholarships can be related to education in a clinical field, or education relating to the organizational and administrative aspects of health care. Scholarships are reviewed and evaluated by multi-disciplinary staff committee.
Health Care Foundation Health Research Grants
The Health Care Foundation provides $50,000 in annual funding to support health research conducted by physicians and staff of the St. John's adult hospitals. We are proud to support and foster local research. Many of the projects that have been funded in the past have gleaned new insight into local health issues and genetic disorders.
Comfort in Care Grants
The Health Care Foundation's Comfort in Care grants provide annual funding of $30,000 or greater to provide items to enhance the comfort and care of hospital patients. Hospital staff and physicians are invited to apply for funding to benefit the care of patients of their unit/ program area. Grants are valued up to $2500 for the purchase of comfort and care items that are not currently funded through hospital budgets.

Moving Lives Forward Scholarships
The Health Care Foundation and Eli Lilly Canada, have teamed together to offer scholarships specifically for clients of Eastern Health's Mental Health Program. The Moving Lives Forward scholarships provide a series of scholarships, valued up to $500, for individuals with mental illness or mental health issues. The goal is to help them pursue post-secondary education for professional or personal development. Past scholarship recipients tell us that the opportunity to continue their learning has provided therapeutic value and helped motivate them to achieve new goals. Staff of the Mental Health Program is encouraged to pass this information along to eligible clients.
